Video Credits

Video credits are used to generate AI-narrated video summaries of your articles. Each video generation consumes one credit. Plus and Pro plan subscribers receive a monthly allowance and can purchase additional credit packs.

Plan requirement

Video summary generation is available on the Plus and Pro plans. The Starter plan does not include video generation capabilities. See Plans & Pricing for a full comparison.

Monthly Allowance

Plus subscribers receive 2 video generation credits per month and Pro subscribers receive 5 video generation credits per month, included in the subscription. These credits reset on each billing date and do not roll over to the next period.

Purchasing Additional Credits

If you need more video generations than your monthly allowance, you can purchase additional credit packs from the Billing page:

Pack Credits Price
1 video credit 1 credit $99
3 video credits 3 credits $219
5 video credits 5 credits $349
10 video credits 10 credits $599

To purchase credits:

  1. Navigate to the Billing page in your FAQSIR dashboard
  2. Find the Video Credits section
  3. Select the credit pack you want to purchase
  4. Complete the checkout process via Stripe

Purchased credits are added to your balance immediately after payment.

Credit priority

When generating a video, the system deducts from your purchased credits first, preserving your monthly allowance. This ensures you get the most value from your credit packs.

How Video Generation Works

The video generation process is fully automated:

1. Script Generation

When a source is processed and video generation is triggered, the AI generates a narration script from the article's summary paragraphs. The script is optimised for spoken delivery.

2. Video Production

The script is sent to the video production pipeline (powered by HeyGen), which generates a professional AI-narrated video using a template with your content. This process runs asynchronously in the background.

3. Upload to YouTube

Once the video is produced, it is automatically:

  • Downloaded and stored securely
  • A thumbnail image is generated
  • The video is uploaded to YouTube
  • The YouTube URL is stored and linked to your source

4. Widget Display

Once the video is ready, the widget displays a "Video" tab in the panel with the embedded YouTube player. The video URL is included in the Source endpoint response under data.generated.youtube_url.

Credit Usage & Tracking

Checking Your Balance

Your current credit balance is displayed on the Billing page, broken down by:

  • Monthly allowance — Credits included with your Plus or Pro subscription
  • Purchased credits — Additional credits from credit pack purchases

When Credits Are Deducted

A credit is deducted at the moment video generation begins — not when the video is completed. If generation fails after credit deduction, the credit is consumed. This is because the AI processing and video production resources are used regardless of the final outcome.

Video Status

You can track the status of each video generation from the sources section of your dashboard:

Status Description
Processing Video is being generated
Completed Video is ready and uploaded to YouTube
Failed An error occurred during generation. The reason is logged.
YouTube Failed Video was generated but YouTube upload failed. Automatic retries are attempted.

Failed Generations

If a video generation fails, the system logs the failure reason. Common causes include content that cannot be converted to a suitable script, or temporary service disruptions. Failed generations still consume a credit, as the AI processing and production resources are used at the point of generation.

If the video is generated successfully but the YouTube upload fails, the system retries automatically up to 3 times with increasing delays (30 seconds, 60 seconds, then 120 seconds).
